Let's say you've registered the domain mycompany.com and you currently have a website at www.geocities.com/mycompany. With website redirection, we can redirect www.mycompany.com to the Geocities address or any other address you specify. This is done almost invisibly to the user, the address on the user's browser window will show as www.mycompany.com and not the forwarded address.
